I had color, highlights and a cut. The color came out much too dark for my skin tone. The highlights are barely visible and the cut was not the new look I requested. A friend had an appointment with the same stylist and had a very similar experience. They put me under a very hot dryer to process the color and my scalp was burning terribly. I was told they have had others react to the reformulated product.......and they were still using it. To say the least, this was a terrible experience. Cannot recommend. more

These reviews make me so sad! Ive been going to Gary Allen for years and have seen numerous people. I have had my hair, nails, and facials done through out the years at this spa. I am treated like family as well as having all my needs accomodated. I love the fact that if my stylist cant get me in i can go to anyone and not feel like im betraying her like i have at other places. I have referred atleast 6 friends to Gary Allen as they were nothing but pleased. I hope people do not write off this salon just because of a couple bad experiences. Might i add that if my stylist can not see me during the period of time I need, they take the time to relay that to her so she can try and squeeze me in. Also, i have been to many high end salons and $45.00 is actually decent for a pedicure. I have paid over $90.00. Remember, you are going to a Spa not a local nail shop. Tiffany, Robbie, Vicki, Georgia, the list goes on of all the amazing professionals at this spa and I am always happy to refer ANY of my clientele to Gary Allen =) O and just a word of advice...if your going to ANY place of business and theyre slow and can get you in right at that second...you might want to think twice...A facility being busy is usually a good thing more

I told Amy to do my color and highlights exactly like this other lady's who works there. Also, she was to trim a very tiny area in the back ofbmy head. Instead, Amy did the WORST color and highlights that I have ever had and then actually cut all over my head to make it a true NIGHTMARE! They gave me my money back but were rude and even tried to steal 5 dollars of the 20 tip. I never had such a terrible experience in my life! more

The only time I was able to get in was with an appointment, even though they say they take walk ins. The hair salon was very busy and the stylists were very professional. I overheard a few consultations while I waited for my technician...they are very thorough and it seems they want a great understanding before they start cutting and styling. Which is probably what helps their customers get exactly what they want with fewer touch ups needed. The technician who did my wax was thorough and did a great job. This was the only place I found in Virginia Beach who did waxing the way I wanted. I found them very professional and friendly. more

I bought my mother a gift certificate from here for Mother's Day. She ended up using $45 of it for a pedicure. $45! For this much, she should have gotten the best pedicure in the world. However, she said it was possibly the worst she has had, definitely worse than ones she pays half the price for. The didn't have massage chairs or hot towels, and only massaged her legs up to her ankles. The polish application was poor, I could have done a better hand left handed - she actually had to come home and redo it! Given that it was a spa, she should have been pampered more - that is what I intended when I gave her the gift certificate. Since her pedicure was so poor, she doesn't even want to use the rest of the gift certificate. Not recommended. more
