Best

I've been attending this school for some time now for classes and workshops and I have to say that I've really enjoyed it. The only "negative" is that they don't offer more class...

NHIA is growing 11/11/2009

Good: im gonna do some bullets here to be quick. Im a junior in Illustration Excellent staff and acedemic advisory is made personal excellent backgrounds in traditional mediums small class sizes, comfortable dorms prime location in downtown manchester very quickly growing, and learning if theres something you want to study that there isnt a course for you can engage in an independent study if there is an instructor who can mentor you and they count for credits.. Bad: cons Some of the staff are newbs this is changing but application of design concepts and use of digital mediums as far as having course to learn more in those areas is like a joke even though the facilities are there to expand so much into that area. there are really incredible all macintosh computer labs that are very well maintained and updated often. the amount of growth has caused for alot of change which hasnt been the best as far as organization and consideration of student needs.. Improvements: The school could use one more building, even though just this year there has been a huge expansion into a new state of the art building i dont think that A: the new class space is being used as well as it could be and B: the school keeps accepting a larger amount of students each year so classes might change from nice and personal to 25-30 student classes (bad fr figure studies) the ceramics dept could use a little more attention, i feel bad for those guys (hang in there) lower lab fees. Other: small school good for a small budget, quality education ,keeps getting better, and lastly i just think this school could be a little more selective with incoming students as the school becomes more recognized for its curriculum. more

"Art"sy without the "Fart"sy - NHIA 11/25/2005

I've been attending this school for some time now for classes and workshops and I have to say that I've really enjoyed it. The only "negative" is that they don't offer more classes! This small art school is very tailored to the student, a service you don't get in most major art schools. The teachers work very hard and really get to really know their students work and offer help. The registrar's office is a bit difficult when it comes to returning phone calls or advising of class or course cancellations in a timely fashion - but if you can deal with the chaos in the office, you will certainly enjoy the classes at NHIA. The tuition afforable -- not as expensive as most Boston schools. You can take a course (non-credited) for around $350.00. I have to say that it was one of the best classroom experiences I've ever had simply because the classes are small and I consistantly felt challenged and inspired by the students and teacher alike. I plan to return to NHIA again in January for more courses and I'd rate this school tops for Art schools in New Hampshire. more
