The original Trader Joe's location has more to offer than any other branch 8/24/2006

I have been shopping at TJs for years. In fact, I shop at all of th major stores. However, of all of the stores (including Gelsons, Whole Foods, Bristol, etc) Trader Joe's is by far the best. They have great quality, unique products. They are environmentally conscience (recyclable packaging) and often sell organic goods. Foods are always hormone and antibiotic free. To top is off, it is incredibly well priced. I am always stocked that the bill is as low as it is. In contrast, the bill is always more than I am expecting when I shop at the above-mentioned stores. Of all of the Trader Joe's, my favorite location is definitely the original, located at the corner of Westwood and National. It is a few blocks south of Westwood and is near the 10-405 interchange. This location has charm. While it may always be a bit crowded, that's because this location has the most to offer. They offer stock new items and always have samples. Even if yo do not live nearby, make the drive to this location. You will not be dissappointed. Pros: Friendly service, great products, lots of charm. Love the location!! Cons: I wish they would expand this store!!! more

these are a few of my favorite things... 7/6/2006

i couldnt live without TJ. i use their creamed honey instead of butter on toast, their choco macaroons for dessert (only like 80 cal each), honey wheat bread (yummy...even for wheat!), 100% flash pasteurized OJ, and during finals weeks--their cacao bars. great prices and gourmet treats. sure, whole foods is great but sometimes their prices are ridiculous and often the food there is soo healthy that it has no taste. Pros: helpful staff who actually know their turf, unique and healthy foods without a cut in taste, student-friendly prices Cons: wish it were open past 9pm, needs to be closer to UCLA more
